Jamie is a scriptwriter in a movie production company. Lately, the production house was not doing very well. Also, there have already been a few rounds of layoffs. Jamie's boss, Kate, approached her one day about a possible new assignment for her.
The job was to write a script for a movie based on a historical event that happened in Greece a very long time ago. It was expected to be in the Greek language and came with a deadline of four weeks. "Greek?! I don't know Greek!" Jamie freaked out at first. But then she realized that turning down the assignment might not be the best idea at that moment. So she accepted the project. But now she had a new dilemma. It was whether she should spend time to learn Greek first, or start working on the script in English right away? |
One fine morning, while drinking coffee, she had a lightbulb moment! She remembered that Google Translate existed! She could use it to translate an English script into Greek instantly!
Based on my experience of teaching students at a business school, I know that many of you have a similar dilemma when it comes to advanced business analytics using the R language. The dilemma is whether you should learn R first or start with analytics concepts, algorithms, and techniques instead. This is why I created Statsbuddy for you so that you can learn both business analytics and R at the same time. It works just like the Google Translate. |
Now, you might think, why R, when you have so many other options, right? Well, that is a fair point, but none of the other options are both free and sophisticated like R! Also, with the advent of big data and artificial intelligence, there is a clear sign that open source languages like R and Python are our future. And it is worth investing time and effort to update yourself by learning those languages, even if you didn't try programming before.
I hope you find this website useful in your journey of learning business analytics with R.
Sincerely,
